U dont Necessary NEED to have a rooted phone with a custom ROM such cynagogen.. HOWEVER u need a phone with a stock ROM not a MODIFIED from ur provider, lots of times they block such features like Internet calling or tether most american companies block it… if u dont wanna mess with rooting n all that get a stock/unblocked phones such one of the Nexus type (i use a Nexus one for this internet calling thing) that has a Stock ROM up to 2.3.7
Also this works Worldwide with internet access !!

I’m using a droid 2.3.5. I don’t see anywhere I can get this cyanogen mod for it. I followed your tutorial step by step. When I go to "Call Settings" there is no option for a "Accounts" nor is there a section for Internet "Call Settings".

Perhaps take a look at your pbxes.org account. Worse comes to worse delete your account there and then start from scratch.

Thank You for doing this tutorial! Ive only ran into 1 problem. It worked great for about 2 months and then all the sudden everytime i try to place a internet call my phone says line busy. Ive checked and double checked my settings. I rewatched the video to make sure my settings matched yours. i cant figure out what the problem may be. Is there anything you might recommend?? Thanks in advanced.

As the author of the Free Calling with Google Voice HOWTO, thank you very much for posting this! You did a great job explaining everything! I’m using a Nexus 1 that has been unsubbed since February. SIPSorcery outbound dialing broke for me last year, so I’ve been using the GV mobile site ever since. FYI, your setup didn’t work without a SIM card, however — kept complaining about the mobile network. I deleted the account from the Call Settings page and reinstalled sipdroid. Worked perfectly!
